Control my thirsty garden

I need to control my thirsty garden

Most plants give plenty of warning signs of water deficiency before seriously wilting. Leaves and stems become less turgid, leaves hang and stems slump

But if your garden is constantly in need of more water than you are prepared to give (or pay for) — we have good news! Mulch!

Mulch is important for cooling the soil and preserving soil moisture — both will help keep plant roots active and your plants growing. However if you are planning on watering your garden regularly, you should consider running dripper irrigation along the soil and under the mulch or tucking drippers under the mulch so the mulch doesn“t soak up the water.

But what if I want to start from scratch and build a water-proofed garden?

In addition to mulching, adding organic matter to your soil can help improve its water-holding capacity and help break up the soil, making it easier for your plants to grow longer and stronger roots to seek out more water (and nutrients). The added nutrients also feed your soil, making them stronger and healthier and more able to resist dry and hot times.

Alternatively you can add Hydrocell Soil to your garden. Our Hydrocell Soil has added Hydrocell, which holds water, nutrients and air for plant roots to access — and lasts in your soil for up to seven years. This is the ultimate soil for water retention and perfect for garden beds, pots, vertical gardens and roll out turf.
